about

An electro-acoustic fantasy depicting life on Earth in the late Cretaceous period.

This soundscape for the imagination evokes the insects, birds, and other creatures from 145 million years ago when the climate was warm and moist.

Originally presented as a four channel surround sound installation, Cretaceous Chorus was commissioned by Experimental Sound Studio for Florasonics, a series of sound installations in the Fern Room of Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago, a tropical setting with many species of ferns that first appeared in the Cretaceous period.
